About Us

The Con Brio Trio is a piano trio based in Lethbridge and the surrounding area. Composed of pianist Anna Jeong, violinist Alayna McNeil, and cellist Brenna Le May, the trio brings a dynamic and polished performance to every occasion.

The group has performed in various competitive and casual settings including the 2023 Bounce and Cadence Symposium, the Lethbridge and District Music and Speech Arts Festival, and the AMFA Provincial Music Festival. They have played for both national and international guest artists, as well as local musicians and music scholars. While the group has a professional and polished reputation, all participants are accomplished musicians in a solo setting, receiving multiple individual performance awards, scholarships, and high praise. Most recently, the trio is honoured to have won first place in the 2023 Canada West National Music Festival, as well as third place in the ENKOR International Music Competition.

In addition to their competitive success, the Con Brio Trio are active performers at private and community events throughout Southern Alberta, where they love bringing music to special occasions and making them truly unforgettable.   • Alayna McNeil

    Violinist

    Alayna McNeil is currently studying for a Master of Music degree in performance at the University of Denver Lamont School of Music. She received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Lethbridge, where she was honoured to receive the Faculty of Fine Arts Gold Medal upon graduating. Alayna is the winner of the 2022 Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra’s RBC Foundation Young Artist Competition, and she was a featured guest soloist with the orchestra in 2023. In 2019 Alayna won the Rose Bowl award for the Most Artistic and Outstanding Performer in the Lethbridge Music Festival.

    An avid performer of chamber and orchestral music, Alayna has enjoyed collaborating and performing with musicians in Canada, the US, and the UK. Alayna is a regular performer with the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra, and in Denver she is co-concertmaster of the Lamont Symphony Orchestra. Alayna has also played as co-concertmaster of the Denver Bow Art Chamber Orchestra. In addition to the Lethbridge-based Con Brio Trio, Alayna currently plays with a string quartet and a string trio in Denver.  

  • Anna Jeong

    Pianist

    Anna Jeong is pursuing graduate studies in piano performance at Western University, where she is completing her Master of Music degree. She graduated with Great Distinction from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Music, studying under Dr. Deanna Oye, and was nominated for the Faculty of Fine Arts Gold Medal. Though her primary focus is solo piano repertoire, Anna is an experienced collaborative performer. She has worked with vocalists, instrumentalists, and musical theatre productions, and is a founding member of the Con Brio Trio. The trio won first place at the 2023 Canada West Performing Arts Festival and placed third in the 2024 ENKOR International Music Competition.

    Anna has received numerous awards recognizing her excellence as a senior performer, including the Edwin Gnandt Senior Piano Trophy in 2023 and 2025, the Royal Canadian Legion Award, and the Lethbridge B’nai Brith Award. Anna continues to seek out diverse collaborative opportunities and enjoys sharing music with her community through performance, mentorship, and outreach.

  • Brenna Le May

    Cellist

    Brenna Le May is a current graduate student pursuing both a Masters of Music degree from the University of Calgary and an Advanced Cello Performance extension diploma from the Mount Royal University Music Conservatory. She holds a Bachelor of Music with a focus in performance from the University of Lethbridge where she graduated with Great Distinction. Along with solo and chamber repertoire, Brenna has played with symphonies across Alberta, British Colombia, and the United States. 

    Brenna has won a number of awards including the Allan and Jessie Williams Award for outstanding performance, the RDFPA Adjudicator’s Choice Award, and the 2024 Abbondanza Scholarship for excellence in performance. She has competed and won in various solo and chamber festivals at the local, provincial, national, and international level. Brenna has played for both national and international guest artists who have praised her for her expressive sound and high level of performance.
